A Word From Our President

Schlegel Villages President Jamie Schlegel is pleased to be part of the Windsor community!

"I represent the third generation of my family involved in the provision of care and services to seniors in Ontario started back in 1952 with my grandfather Wilfred Schlegel and so I’m very proud of the fact that our family has been committed to ongoing care and innovations around looking after our seniors in our communities. I’m personally very excited to be part of the city of Windsor and providing this care to the seniors of Windsor who need it.

I believe we have a very innovative approach to the care of seniors. We look after not just the physical care needs of the senior but we look after the whole person and provide a context that encourages socialization, interaction, life purpose, quality of life - all those things that are so much more than just looking after the physical care needs of the senior, all those are obviously important as well.

So we are excited about bringing this continuum of care concept to Windsor which provides long term care services through to independent living with many kinds of stages in between. We provide this in a village format complete with a town square and a main street that replicates life in a small village but more importantly replicates the life and vibrancy and vitality that is found on a main street of a small town. We are pleased to be able to develop this and offer it to the seniors of Windsor, not just the physical care but also from this unique environment that we’ve created that allows seniors to enjoy life at 85 just as much as they did when they were 25 and 35 and 45!"
