New name, same great organization.
We are pleased to announce that the continuum of care villages formerly operating under the umbrella of Oakwood Retirement Communities have joined together with the signature village of the Schlegel family – the Village of Winston Park - to operate under the common umbrella of Schlegel Villages. All of these Villages are designed, built and managed by the Schlegel family of Kitchener, Ontario. Aside from the name change and consolidation of ownership, everything else remains the same. The same high quality of care and management continues. Our motto, "It Takes a Village to Care" lives on.
Canadian owned and operated, our Villages benefit from the Schlegel family having over 40 years of direct experience co-owning, managing and operating Long Term Care and Retirement Communities in Ontario.
There are eleven Schlegel Villages housing approximately 2500 seniors. Each Village has a Long Term Care component, with Full Service Retirement Living, Assisted Care, Memory Care and Independent Living options being added in stages. The first Schlegel Village opened in 1998 in Guelph. Six opened between 2001 and 2005, and the latest opened in December of 2010 (Windsor). Substantial expansions are underway in two locations (Guelph, Burlington) and additional expansion is planned at other locations to house a total estimated 7,000 seniors over the next 10 years.
