Amidst a Pandemic, Lest We Forget

“Our hopes are high. Our faith in the people is great. Our courage is strong. And our dreams for this beautiful country will never die.”

- Pierre Trudeau

On Wednesday November 11th 2020, Remembrance Day for the residents at The Village of Wentworth Heights will look slightly different. Despite the global pandemic, the Residents will still be honouring the men and women who have served and continue to serve Canada during times of war, conflict and peace.

Amidst the pandemic, we will not forget. It is a day we encourage every individual, young and old, to pause and give thanks and to remember. To all the men and women who call our Long-Term Care and Retirement Residences home, and to all Veterans, we say thank you.

There will be no gathering in Townhall this year but the ceremony will be done virtually and broadcasted to their SchlegelTV channel and can be viewed on their televisions from their suites. At 11 A.M., there will be a Village-wide Moment of Silence as we reflect and remember the sacrifices made for our country.

There are several other ways you can honour our veterans and their bravery:

  • Wear the poppy over your heart.

  • Watch the Virtual Remembrance Day Service in your area;
    For Hamilton:
    Date: Wednesday, November 11, 2020
    Time: 10:30 to 11:15 A.M.
    The public is encouraged to watch the virtual service online at Cable 14 or the City’s YouTube channel www.youtube/insidecityofhamilton

  • Observe two minutes of silence at 11 A.M. on November 11th.
