"Carving is my way of taking a block of wood and creating something beautiful out of it. It's a feeling of accomplishment and pride that I can't quite put into words." – John Kingdom
"Painting is a way for me to express myself and explore new ideas. It's exciting and challenging, and I love discussing my work with others." – Doris Kingdom
John and Doris Kingdom’s passion for creative arts began many years ago, with Doris pursuing watercolour and acrylic painting, among other pursuits, while John excelled at woodcarving.
Their passion offers a sense of purpose and satisfaction and connects them with many people, including their grandchildren, with whom they have explored painting and other creative endeavours.
To those considering pursuing their own passion, John and Doris offer this advice: “If one thing doesn’t work, try something different.”
Although health issues have limited their ability to continue with their crafts, they have found new ways to appreciate and discuss art. Their passion provides a long-lasting appreciation of their surroundings and artistic efforts, making them an inspiration to us all.
