Student Opportunities
The Schlegel family is committed to excellence in the care and support offered to the people who choose to call a Schlegel Village home.
The students who come to learn within our Villages are treated like family, just as any team member would be, and some of our finest team members began their journey with use through student learning.
We enjoy strong ties to Colleges and Universities across the province, so whether it’s aspiring kinesiologists in placements with our PAL teams or future PSWs and nurses studying in one of our Living Classrooms, we’re eager to work with our students, for they represent the future of caregiving.
We also enjoy partnerships with local high schools through their Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) programs, where we can introduce young people to the joys of working on Long-term Care and Retirement settings.

Bharthi Krishnan is the picture of open-minded ambition. She left her family in India to study two majors at the University of Waterloo – Psychology and Health Sciences – and in November of 2023 as she shares her perspective as a co-op student at The Village of Aspen Lake in Windsor, she’s been away from home for two years.
