"I've always had a strong desire to help people in need, and being a firefighter allowed me to do just that. Every day on the job was a chance to make a difference in someone's life, and that's what kept me motivated and passionate about what I did."
Ron's passion for firefighting began when he saw an ad for a firefighter position in Kirkland Lake while working at a printing company; he felt drawn to the job because he wanted to help people.
Ron's dedication and hard work paid off, and he was promoted several times over the years, eager as he was to consistently learn to become better.
Through his pursuit of firefighting, Ron learned the importance of serving others and the value of physical health and strength to perform well. He also understood the risks and dangers involved and how to avoid them. Ron's advice to others is to pursue their dreams and now, in his retirement, he and his wife dream about trips they would like to take.
