Honouring Remembrance Day

The Act of Remembrance

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.
We will remember them.

- Laurence Binyon (An excerpt from For the Fallen)

Remembrance Day marks the day when Wentworth Heights come together to remember a time of war and conflict. On November 11th, residents, friends and families are invited to gather in the Town Square to honour and recognize those who have served their country and fought for our freedoms. It is a day we encourage every individual, young and old, to pause and give thanks and to remember. To all the men and women who call our Long-Term Care and Retirement Residence home, and to all Veterans, we say thank you.

Here are some ways you can honour veterans and their bravery:

  • Wear the poppy over your heart.
  • Observe two minutes of silence at 11 A.M. on November 11th.
  • Attend a Remembrance Day ceremony in your area.
  • Come by our retirement home to speak with our veterans.
