Honouring and Celebrating the Wisdom of our Elders During Seniors Month
Series of Gala Events to Showcase the Life-long Passions of 29 Seniors from Across Ontario

At Schlegel Villages, we firmly believe that life is a continuous journey of growth and exploration, regardless of age. June is Seniors Month and Schlegel Villages will be honouring the wisdom of our elders with a series of gala events, showcasing the passions that drive 29 different residents from our Villages.
Our Pursuit of Passions x #ElderWisdom campaign celebrates the incredible stories and wisdom of our residents. It is an opportunity for us to combat ageism, challenge stereotypes, and create a more inclusive society that values and cherishes the experiences and contributions of our elders.
We will be hosting gallery exhibits at five locations across Ontario and we invite media to join us:
- June 1st, The Village at University Gates, Waterloo (formal agenda at 3:00 pm)
- June 8th, The Village of Taunton Mills, Whitby (formal agenda at 3:00 pm)
- June 14th, The Village at St. Clair, Windsor (formal agenda at 4:00 pm)
- June 21st, The Village of Erin Meadows, Mississauga (formal agenda at 3:30 pm)
- June 29th, Hamilton Art Gallery, Hamilton (formal agenda at 4:00 pm)
Guests will have the opportunity to explore a collection of stunning professional photographs featuring our residents, along with the captivating stories of some of the passions that have guided them throughout the years. A formal agenda of speakers will feature team members, residents, and community members.
“Throughout my lifetime, I have learned so much from my connections with seniors,” says Schlegel Villages founder, Ron Schlegel, who at 80 now lives in one of the seniors Villages he created. “Their wisdom and experience are the greatest of resources our nation holds, and we must take every opportunity we can to learn from our elderly generations.”
We have also arranged for guests to sit upon our #ElderWisdom green bench and engage in heartfelt conversations with our residents. Share in their joys, experiences, and cherished moments as they impart their wisdom and life lessons.
