This year marked the 10th anniversary of #ElderWisdom and the Green Bench, a milestone that reminded us why the initiative began in the first place. In listening to Elders share memories of home, family, loss, resilience, and reconciliation, we were reminded that aging does not diminish a person’s story, it deepens it. Whether through joyful reunions, journeys back to meaningful places, or moments of reflection rooted in truth and healing, #ElderWisdom reaffirmed our responsibility to honour lived experience and restore Elders to a place of reverence in our communities.
The stories of residents throughout this collection further illustrate what happens when care is built around relationships, purpose, and belief in each person’s potential. A couple that chose one of our Villages to build their future together, and the wedding ceremony they shared there. A resident reclaiming independence after believing recovery was no longer possible. A quiet philosophy of optimism that inspires an entire neighbourhood simply by being lived each day. These moments are not extraordinary because they are rare – they are extraordinary because they are made possible through everyday acts of support, encouragement, and compassion.
At the same time, 2025 was a year of meaningful organizational growth and innovation. As new Villages prepare to open and long-standing initiatives reached important milestones, we continued to ask ourselves not just what we are building, but how and why. Flexible scheduling, PSW Medication Administration, Dedicated Support, and the work of our Innovation Catalysts all reflect a commitment to designing systems that strengthen relationships, empower team members, and ultimately improve quality of life for residents and families. As new Villages open in 2026, beginning with The Village of Ridgeview Court in Milton, these initiatives, honed over time with thought and commitment, will be part of daily life.
