As a proudly Canadian organization, Schlegel Villages has been closely monitoring recent economic and policy shifts in the United States with growing concern. The introduction of new protectionist measures and economic instability has reinforced the need for us to take proactive steps to safeguard the stability of our operations and the well-being of those we serve.
In anticipation of these challenges, we began working last fall to diversify our supply chain, prioritizing Canadian suppliers wherever possible. In economies as intertwined as ours, this is not always easy but we believe it is a necessary step toward greater self-reliance and resilience.
Additionally, we have made the decision to suspend participation in conferences and industry events hosted in the United States until there is a clear commitment to restoring cooperative economic policies. Our focus remains on fostering strong, sustainable partnerships that align with our values and long-term stability.
While these decisions reflect the current reality, our deep respect for our American colleagues and friends remains unchanged. Many of our residents and team members have stood shoulder to shoulder with their American counterparts in times of great challenge, forging bonds that go far beyond political maneuvering. It is our sincere hope that the longstanding spirit of collaboration between our two nations will be restored in the near future.
Until then, our doors at Schlegel Villages remain open, and we extend our best wishes to our friends and partners across the border.
